Recently I held the first public event for the Zero to Cloud in 1 Day with Microsoft Azure training workshop to be held in Newcastle.  I had a really great offer from the Cloud Innovation Centre which is a partnership between Newcastle University and Newcastle Council.  The CIC is trying to promote the North East region in terms of how great a place it is to be involved in IT and together we all hope that the Zero to Cloud in 1 Day with Microsoft Azure would give local businesses the opportunity to get hands on experience with the Microsoft Cloud.  You can find out more about how we are offering courses in Newcastle on this previous post.

One attendee even told me after “that’s about as much Azure as I think its possible to learn in a single day”.

Below is a picture of some of the great people who attended the course.

The venue at Cloud Innovation Centre was great and I was really impressed with the food there.  Im looking forward to working with the team there to host future events in Newcastle.  I hope it gets easier to get the word out about the event on the back of the success we have had this time.

Below we have Greg and Stephen who have an IT Pro background and were both quite impressed to get the chance to learn about some of the Platform as a Service and Software as a Service features offered by the Microsoft Cloud.  One thing they liked was the opportunity to learn a little about work item management in Visual Studio Online which is something they hadnt used before but could see some benefits in helping to manage IT infrastructure work.

This training session was perfect for my own requirements and skillset. The structure of the training day was a really good method of laying the groundwork for what Azure has to offer, for those of us who have not yet got our hands dirty but keen to explore this as a viable cloud-based platform for future solution architecting projects. I am now much more comfortable in assessing how Azure could be utilised if such an opportunity arose tomorrow. I must thank Michael Stephenson personally for both providing the prize itself, and for giving such a great learning session on the day itself.

The Zero to Cloud session provided a great introduction to MS’s Azure with excellent tutorials, manuals and hands on labs. It covered all of the popular aspects that many a developer/consultant/architect would find useful and wanting to implement.
